The first results and ongoing work carried out within the SARWAVE project have been presented in the SeaSAR workshop, an international meeting that takes place from 2 to 6 May 2023 at University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), in Norway.

With the focus on SAR-based geophysical parameter retrievals, the SeaSAR workshop is the perfect occasion to share and discuss about the research on understanding and measurement of swell, wind direction, wave cross spectra, measurement of waves, and sea ice classification using SAR, SAR altimetry, and optical sensors that are key topics in the SARWAVE project.

The SeaSAR workshop is organised twenty years after ESA’s 2003 workshop on Coastal and Marine applications of SAR (ESA SP-565). It consists of several keynote presentations and thematic discussions focusing on wave retrievals, near surface wind retrievals and detection of extremes, Doppler shift retrievals, sea ice retrievals, sensor synergy but also methodology and techniques, future missions, and applications.
